Every signal carries within it the frequency of its own end.

Liminal Signal

LSD

Degradation

The in-between is not a passage. It is the only real place.

LSD does not document a transition between two states. It inhabits the space between them and declares that space the most truthful place of all. Neither loss. Nor transformation. Both simultaneously, and beyond both.

Loss is structural to birth. It is inscribed in form before form is complete. Transformation never arrives from nothing, it was already under construction before the act. What persists was always there, hidden beneath the appearance of stability, waiting for dissolution to make it visible.

These are portraits of beings caught inside a system that degrades with them. The world does not exist behind the figure, it shares the same signal. They unravel together, neither identical nor separable. The world exceeds the being who perceives it, and yet it only arrives through that being.

LSD is also a substance. Intentionally. The drug produces precisely this state — the boundaries between self and world dissolving without fully disappearing. The name itself is a signal at two frequencies.

This is the twilight zone. The heart of midnight and noon at once. A time that should not last, seized and made permanent by the image.

Fascinating and unsettling. Liberating and alienating. Without resolution.

What LSD reveals is the moment when this becomes impossible to ignore.

The signal was never stable.

There is a moment when everything tips.

LSD is.

We are never there.

The Conceptual Framework

The liminal state as truth. LSD does not document a transition between two states, it declares that the intermediate state is the most truthful state of all. Neither loss nor transformation. Both simultaneously, and beyond both. For loss is structural to birth, inscribed in form before form is complete. Transformation never arrives from nothing, it was already under construction before the act. The twilight zone, the heart of midnight and noon, a time that should not last, seized and made permanent by the image.

The co-degradation of being and world. Portraits are never isolated, they are caught inside a system that degrades with them. Being and world share the same signal because the world only arrives through the being. But this world exceeds the being who perceives it ; it is not reducible to him. The two are woven from the same thread without being identical.

The double reading of the name. LSD as Liminal Signal Degradation and as hallucinogenic substance, both readings are intentional and inseparable. The drug produces exactly this state: the boundaries between self and world dissolving without fully disappearing. The name itself is a signal at two frequencies.

The impossible temporality. It is not a before, not an after. It is the exact moment of collapse, suspended, made permanent. What persists is not what survives degradation, it is what was hidden beneath the appearance of stability, made visible at last by dissolution.

The signal was never stable. What LSD reveals is the moment when this becomes impossible to ignore.

Process & Method

The work begins with a personal AI model, trained exclusively on the artist's own production. Not a borrowed tool ; an extension of a visual language built over decades, through physical painting, analogue photography, and years of prompt construction with architectural precision.

The process is a loop. The model generates. The artist selects. The selected images feed back into the model. The loop repeats until the image reaches its exact point of truth, the moment where nothing can be added or removed without breaking what it holds.

The final image sits between photography and painting. Not as a hybrid, but as the natural destination of a research that was always searching for this junction. From acrylic painting to analogue photography, the question was always the same : how to inhabit the space between two states. AI is the tool that finally makes it possible.

«LSD is a series about the impossible moment; the one where everything shifts, but where you're never really present. I work on degradation, not as loss, not as transformation, but as both at once and something beyond. What you see in the images is what was always there, hidden beneath the appearance of stability and that dissolution finally makes visible. And LSD is also a substance. That's intentional. The name itself works on two frequencies. »
